The second home for modern adventure seekers Koren Kobarid Camp is the second home for contemporary adventure seekers. It is situated on the left bank of the river Soča, not far from Kobarid, where the emerald green river Soča flows from the narrow gorge, slows down on the beautiful white gravel river bank and meanders through the Soča Valley. Maybe you want to get your adrenaline going in the air, on the wild river rapids or on the nearby natural climbing walls. Or maybe you prefer the peace of the unspoilt nature, which you can enjoy on hiking or biking tours or during flyfishing.

Here, you can find sanctuary from everyday stress and stifling summer heat of the cities. Also in the hottest days, Koren Kobarid Camp offers pleasant refreshment and numerous possibilities for active leisure time for the young and the old. In the immediate vicinity of the camp, the river Soča has formed a short, but picturesque canyon, there are also beautiful gravel river banks, the waterfalls of the stream Kozjak and a renovated front line from the First World War. Not far away, in Kobarid, you can visit the Museum of the First World War, which is considered as one of the best museums in Europe.

Koren Camp was one of the first Slovene camp to be awarded the Ecolabel, the European certificate for ecotourism. The river Soča rises in the heart of the Julian Alps and with regard to its upper stream, it is considered as one of the five naturally best preserved rivers in the Alps.

Why Koren Kobarid Camp?

The respect of nature and fellow human beings is a virtue which has been the aim of Koren Camp ever since it was established. When in 1991 we established a camp on the terraces above the left bank of the river Soča, there were only few tourists in this part of the Soča Valley, and even less travelers with tents, kayaks and backpacks. Koren Camp, as well as many tourists in the Soča Valley at the time, was the first in its field. It was the first camp in the area of Kobarid and Tolmin, and since then it is considered as the one that first introduces new changes in camping tourism in this area.

More than 20 years of tradition have not put us to sleep, but have stimulated us to continue improving what we offer. Each year, we prepare something new for our guests and maybe this is why more than one third of our guests comes back every year. Some of them come back even more often, since the river Soča offers a completely different experience in spring as it does in autumn, when the area glows with autumn colors. When we take up a new endeavor, we always think of nature and our guests at the same time, because we want to offer a nature-friendly stay.

We are aware of the fact that nature provides us with everything we need: life, wisdom, peace, happiness, joy, freedom, food for body and soul. The acquirement of the European Ecolabel for an environment-friendly camp was a logical step on our way. We are very proud of the fact that we are the first Slovene camp to be awarded the European Ecolabel. We hope that some other Slovene camp will join us soon. We are also proud of some other awards and titles: The tourist guide Cool Camping Europa ranked Koren Camp in top 20 European destinations for the fans of nature and camping. We are also recommended by the largest European guide ADAC, and also by the renowned British camping guide Alan Rogers, which selected our camp to be the winner of the Rented Accommodation Award 2010 due to the top-quality accommodation in our wooden chalets.

Where are we?

“Koren” camp-site is situated in the picturesque landscape the Soca river, only 500 meters from Kobarid, by the road to Drežnica. The camp-site is located in the vicinity of the most interesting spots in the Soca valley: the Soca river canyon, the waterfall of the Kozjak stream, gravel pits, Napoleon’s bridge and the restored front-line from World War l. The camp-site is the perfect spot for those who enjoy kayaking, fishing, hunting, mountain cycling, mountaineering, Alpinclimbing, Paragliding, Hang-gliding, walking or joggling.

Since the camp operates year-round, even in the dead season, they are making significant efforts to revive this part of the year. In 2018, an unprecedented offer to an even higher level. In addition to the already existing Finnish saunas, they still put salt room, where they perform various treatments for relaxation or health promotion. In addition, they built a multi-purpose hall and a gym. In the hall in winter months they carry out all kinds of exercise such as yoga and Pilate to, with different rečanja and congresses. The gym is performed solo or guided training as well as training for athletes , especially kayakers.

Our offer was this year enriched with a defibrillator   and filling station for electric vehicles.

Apartment complex with six eco chalet 2018 were joined by two wooden Glamping lodge, which was built entirely from natural materials.

Tent sites

Those of you who love spending your holidays in the tents will definitely enjoy themselves in Zone D, since there are several terraces available there and the sites are not accessible by car. The terraces are of various sizes, some of them are large enough for only one tent. In the immediate vicinity of the terraces, there is a special covered picnic spot where you are allowed to light a campfire. In the immediate vicinity of Zone D, there is also a parking lot. Zones A, B and C are more suitable for larger tents, and there you can also find space for smaller tents, that is under the edge of the slope in the upper part of Zone C. Here, there are also spots intended for barbecues and campfires. Zone E also has its special charm because it is entirely in the forest and its upper part borders on a grassy clearing. It is intended for tents as well as campers and caravans. There are electric hook-up points and campfire spots available there.

Camper and caravan sites

Guests who arrive to the camp by a camper or caravan may use campsites in Zones A, B and C. Six sites in Zone C provide full utility services; they have electric hook-ups as well as drainage and water hook-ups. In the camp, in the sanitary facilities by the reception, there is a chemical toilet, and in Zone D, by the climbing wall, there is an area for fresh water inlet and waste water outlet. You can also park your camper or caravan in Zone E, which is in the forest and its upper part borders on a grassy clearing. There are electric hook-up points and campfire spots available.

ECO chalets

For all of you who prefer a solid roof over your head we designed six wooden eco chalets in 2009. The beautiful wooden houses on the terraces just a few steps away from the reception offer a luxurious stay on two levels with 100 square meters in total size. Each chalet accepts up to 6 persons (4 + 2), and in two of the chalets, pets are allowed. On ground level, there are an entrance hall, which is suitable for storing sport equipment, a large living room with a couch (extra bed for two persons), a TV-set, a dining corner and a handy kitchen with all the necessary equipment and a fridge. On ground level, there is also a bathroom with a shower. On the upper floor, there are two bedrooms, in each there are two very comfortable beds (2.10 m in length), which can be transformed into a double bed. In the chalets, there is free internet wireless connection available.

A stay in eco chalets is especially comfortable due to the warmth of the wood, which always creates the optimal climate in the rooms, since the wood takes the excess moisture from the air or emits it, when the air in the room is too dry. The wooden walls are coated only with oil, and the floor in the rooms is waxed and coated with linseed oil, which enables the wood to preserve all its natural power. Around the chalets, there are flower beds and lawns, which can be accessed via stone paths. Holidays in these eco chalets present a wonderful mixture of comfort and a close connection to nature.
