Pirovac, a small historic Dalmatian town situated between Zadar and Šibenik and facing Island Murter. Thanks to zealous locals Pirovac is one of the fastest developing resorts on Croatia's Adriatic coast. Ambitious developments have been acknowledged by the International Blue Flag organization, whose sign of quality has been awarded to Lolić Beach since 2008. There are more less developed and crowded beaches besides Lolić in Pirovac, just like the beach south of Lolić.

Hotel accommodation is offered by one hotel (Miran), but there are many family-run apartment buildings. There are two campsites in Pirovac, one is run by Hotel Miran, the other one is situated right next to Lolić Beach. Shopping can be done locally, there are two supermarkets (Studenac) and there are further small shops and a greenmarket. Most of the restaurants, cafes and bars are located around the main square, where the old town meets the new. One can find a gas station on the NW end of the town, Jadranska Banka has its branch on the riva and there are two more ATM machines in Pirovac (OTP Banka and Raiffeisen).

The ambience of the old town is appealing for walks in the evening or the night. Those who don't like tranquility will probably enjoy one of the best disco clubs in Croatia, Klub Porat (towards Zadar from Pirovac, in Prosika Bay). Visitors of Pirovac would probably don't want to miss a trip to Island Murter and even more so an excursion to the Kornati Islands. Another popular destination for a trip in Pirovac's vicinity is Lake Vrana (Vransko jezero) and Vrana Castle.

Pirovac is a lively, very beautiful town with many natural endowments. Industrious hands of few inhabitants ornamented it through past centuries with historic monuments of lasting value. It is situated at the farthest western point of the county of Sibenik and Knin. Pirovac is a municipal centre and, next to Primosten, Vodice, Murter, the most important municipal tourist centre of the Sibenik riviera. Mild climate, well-indented coast, numerous coves and sandy beaches, vegetation, pine forests and centenary olive-groves, clean and warm sea, magnificent sunsets, beauty of the coastal region – guarantee unique delights and experiences to all visitors of Pirovac.

Beautiful coves, Sitnica, Vrulje, Makirina and Vrilo with their pebbly beaches and clear sea are very charming and a special attraction is the islet of Sustipanac, situated right in front of Pirovac, where you can relax and enjoy swimming and sun tanning. In cove Makirina sites of peloid mud were found. This mud is very curative. Pirovac is very close to two National Parks – “Kornati” and “Krka” and it is only 5 kilometres away from the Park of Nature “Vransko jezero”, which is very suitable for recreational fishing.

Via the Adriatic Highway Pirovac is connected with cultural and historical centres, such as Sibenik, Zadar, Trogir and Split. Accommodation is arranged in comfortable suites, rooms, campsites and hotel-tourist complex “Miran”.Gastronomic pleasure and most famous Dalmatian specialties can be found in private restaurants, taverns, pizzerias and the offer is complete with attractive cafés and nightclubs.

PIROVAC has always been economically, tourist-wise and ecologically turned to its greatest natural treasure – Pirovac Bay, this natural phenomenon, cut 10 km deep into the rocks, enclosed in Mediterranean vegetation of enchanting smell, mingled with the original smell of the sea and agreeable tide that makes the sea in this bay 3-4° warmer during summer than the average temperature of the Adriatic Sea in that time of the year. Pirovac Bay has many beautiful coves, sandy beaches and at the western entrance, the island of Sv. Stjepan, called Sustipanac, that still preserves the remnants of the old convent and small church given to the Franciscans – Tertiaries, Glagolitic monks by powerful landowner Petar Draganic from Pirovac in 1511. Southern side of Pirovac Bay, MAKIRINA, is a natural swimming beach with curative peloid mud. In its composition, quality and quantity that site with curative mud exceeds all known sites in Croatia. Its medicinal application is a basis for a real tourist boom. It is a peloid mud site with the area of 414.800 m3.

Pirovac is situated on north coast of Pirovac bay, a natural phenomenon, which is 10 kilometers drawn into the rock with the attractive Mediterranean vegetation. It is very exciting place to spend your holidays, and also a place where you definitely cannot get bored. The biggest advantages of this little town are beaches with the warmest and the cleanest sea in the world.

Pirovac was first mentioned in the year 1298 and was known as Zloselo. It belonged to the noblemen from Bribir - the Subic family and later it became the property of the Sibenik Diocese and some noblemen from Sibenik. The settlement itself was founded in the 15th ct. by the refugees who fled from the Turks. Nevertheless, this area was inhabited many centuries earlier than that which can be proved by the remnants of the Roman settlements found on the islet of St.Stephen. Many otherhistorical monuments tell us about the gradual settlement and development of this place.

Small town with warm spirit and beautiful beaches and coves is already for many years attracting many tourists who enjoy its beauty. One of its advantages arebeautiful beaches and some were awarded with the Blue Flag is a symbol of clean beaches and sea, equipped with quality amenities. Local beach Lolić is a perennial blue flag carrier, equipped with showers, changing rooms, sanitary facilities, and restaurants. On the beach you can rent equipment for various entertainment activities at sea and beach equipment.

Close your eyes and imagine the French Riviera, The Greek Islands, or Italy’s Amalfi Coast forty years ago. You’ll see pristine beaches. Sun-soaked sand where the waves lap gently ashore. Tile-roofed homes glistening above the rocky cliffs below. Sea water so clear you can see all the way to the bottom. Roman ruins. Fishing Villages. Restaurants along a promenade made for strolling. Aromas that silently invade your senses and transport you to another world. Where are you? Croatia! If all you remember about this majestic strip of land once known as a part of Yugoslavia is its war in the 1990s when it declared itself independent from Yugoslavia, it’s time you took another look at one of the most magnificent countries rimming the Adriatic. Inhabited since the Stone Age, Croatia’s land has been occupied by everyone from the Greeks, Illyrians, the Celts, the Romans and even the Huns. It wasn’t until the 7th century AD that the Slavs settled and their “modern” history began. If you fast-forward in the history of this tumultuous piece of geography, you will find that 2009 brings Croatia staring at a future of peace and economic prosperity, and in line to become a member of the EU. Only a territorial claim by Croatia over a Slovenian shipping route stands in the way. Both countries expect to resolve the situation shortly. The Adriatic Sea is the hub of Croatian life, and the medieval walled cities that overlook its shores attest to the importance of the land. But it is the water itself that makes one pause. It is clear. Crystal clear. And the tiny coves and lazy harbors climbing up the coastal line all carry the reflection of the turquoise waters. Out to sea sit over 1,000 islands, all accessible by boat and inviting you for an afternoon picnic. Even the noted oceanographer, Jacques Cousteau, described the waters off Croatia as the cleanest and clearest in the world.
